Fire destroys Beloit duplex, displaces family of four

BELOIT—The cause of a Sunday fire just that destroyed a duplex at 718 10th St., and displaced a family of four is under investigation, according to a Beloit Fire Department news release.

Firefighters dispatched just after midnight Sunday encountered heavy smoke and fire. The two-story home's occupants—two adults and two children--already had evacuated.

The fire started in a bedroom.

The duplex was valued at $55,100 and was considered a total loss in addition to another $7,000 in contents, according to the news release.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.
