JANESVILLE—Austin Scieszinski on Monday turned in 800 nomination signatures to the Government Accountability Board, qualifying for the fall ballot as a candidate in the 15th Senate District.

Scieszinski is the first candidate in the Democratic primary for the 15th Senate District to qualify for the fall ballot.

Scieszinski faces Rep. Janis Ringhand of Evansville and former Assembly Speaker Mike Sheridan of Janesville in the Aug. 12 primary. All three are seeking the seat currently held by Sen. Tim Cullen, who is not seeking re-election.

“I'm proud to be the first candidate to qualify for the ballot by turning in the maximum amount of signatures a senate candidate is allowed to turn in,” Scieszinski said. “I am energized by the support I have received from volunteers and voters across the 15th Senate District, and I'm excited to continue to build on the momentum this campaign is gaining.”

Scieszinski is a lifelong Janesville resident and has worked in the past as a legislative aide for Cullen. He has a degree in finance and accounting from UW-Madison and is employed by his family's local real estate business.
