Buda Mary Powell, 92, of Baraboo, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at St. Clare Meadows Care Center. Buda was born on Aug. 24, 1921, in Fairfield, Township, the daughter of Herbert and Verne (Porter) Thomas. She attended Leach Creek School and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1940. On Oct. 25,1947, she was united in marriage to Floyd Powell in Wausau. He preceded her in death in January of 1994. Buda was a homemaker most of her life and also had worked part-time at Industrial Coils in Baraboo. She was a volunteer at St. Clare Meadows Care Center, taught Sunday school at Baraboo Assembly of God, made quilts for missionaries and enjoyed reading a good book.

Survivors include her three children: Sue (Dennis) Melvin of Sun Prairie, Mary (Wesley) Knight of Dalton, and Colleen (Russell) Austin of Janesville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Betty Thomas of Baraboo; special friends, Roxanne (David) Biffert and their family; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Floyd, and her parents, Buda was preceded in death by her brothers: Donald, Roy and Carl; her sisters, Audrey and Doris; and a great-grand daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at ONE LIFE ASSEMBLY, 1000 11th St., in Baraboo, with Pastor Jon W. Arneson officiating. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 2 p.m. until time of services. Interment will take place in Fairfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the One Life Assembly Church or Assembly of God U.S. Missions. The RAGO-BALDWIN FUNERAL HOME, 520 East St., in Baraboo, is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Clare Meadows Care Center for the wonderful care given to Buda during her stay.
