Janesville man accused of fourth-offense drunken driving
JANESVILLE—Walter J. Pitcher was being held at the Rock County Jail after being arrested on a charge of fourth-offense drunken driving Friday morning.
According to a Janesville Police Department news release, an officer made a traffic stop at 12:47 a.m. Friday of a minivan Pitcher was driving in the 600 block of South Jackson Street after learning the registered owner had no valid driver's license.
Pitcher, 34, of 1900 N. Washington St., Janesville, had a revoked driver's license for three prior drunken-driving offenses.
The officer smelled the odor of intoxicants from within the vehicle, and Pitcher's speech was slurred. Pitcher had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.16, about twice the state's limit, according to police.
He also was arrested on charges of operating after revocation.
