Local man sentenced for re-entering US illegally

MADISON—A man with Janesville ties was sentenced in federal court Friday for re-entering the United States illegally, according to a news release from the United States attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

German Arriaga-Dominquez, 31, a citizen of the Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to five months in prison. He pleaded guilty to the charges March 12, according to the news release.

A state probation officer who was conducting a home visit of Arriaga-Dominquez's girlfriend in Janesville on Jan. 10 recognized Arriaga-Dominquez as someone who had been deported, according to the news release. The officer notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Immigration agents arrested Arriaga-Dominquez on Feb. 27 in Beloit, the news release states.

Arriaga-Dominquez has four prior convictions for operating a vehicle while having a suspended license and a misdemeanor domestic battery conviction for which he was incarcerated for five months.
