William L. Palmer, Milton, WI (1925-2013)

William L. Palmer, age 88, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at The Heartwarming House in Milton. He was born Jan. 11, 1925 in Milton, WI, the son of the late George and Anna (Lawton) Palmer. Bill graduated from Milton Union High School in 1943. He joined the Marines in 1943 and served to 1945. After returning home he married Shirley Ward May 19, 1946.
Bill was a home builder for 19 years in the Milton area building several homes. He then went to work as an engineer at the Admiral Corporation where he worked for over 10 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, The Moose Club in Janesville, and the Masonic Temple in Milton. Bill and Shirley loved to travel together and they lived the past 20 years in Florida. Bill moved back to Milton after Shirley passed away in 2008 in Florida.
Bill and Shirley are survived by two sons: Wayne Palmer of Milton, and Richard (Linda) Palmer of Janesville; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Bill and Shirley were preceded in death by their parents; a son, Gary; brother, Charles and sister-in-law, Artis Palmer; sister, Helen and brother-in-law, Henry Pullman.
A joint celebration of life for Shirley who passed away on July 14, 2008 and Bill will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, May 16, 2014 at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, MILTON. A private family committal will be held Saturday at Rock River Cemetery.
