Janis Ringhand accepts a union endorsement in Senate race
EVANSVILLE—The union representing Rock County public works and general services employees has endorsed Janis Ringhand for state Senate.
AFSCME Local 1077 President Buck Buchanan said in a news release that union members “overwhelmingly decided there is no one we trust more to represent us and stand up for the rights of workers in Madison.”
Ringhand, a state Assembly representative from Evansville, faces Mike Sheridan and Austin Scieszienski for the Democratic nomination in the Aug. 12 primary.
Ringhand said in the news release that her husband was a longtime member of the United Auto Workers and that her "commitment to protecting the rights of our workers has never wavered, and I hope to continue fighting for working families in the state Senate."
