JANESVILLE—A utility pole fire knocked out power to 325 Alliant Energy customers for 90 minutes Monday morning in the area of Milton Avenue/Kettering Street and Kettering Street/Deerfield Drive.

Police and fire responded just before 5:30 a.m. when traffic lights were knocked out at these intersections.

Power was restored by 7 a.m. when only a handful of customers were still without power, said Annemarie Newman, spokeswoman for Alliant Energy.

Wind is believed to have brought down a wire that may have caused the fire, she said.

Utility workers remained on scene mid-morning replacing the pole, Newman said.
