BELOIT—Beloit relievers Brent Powers and Andres Avila combined to throw six innings of one-hit ball to help the Snappers beat the Midwest League-leading Kane County Cougars 6-1 on Monday.

Bobby Wahl, fresh off the disabled list, started the game for Beloit but exited after allowing the Cougars’ lone run in the second inning on back-to-back doubles by Jacob Rogers and Will Remillard. Powers then entered the game and went four innings without allowing a hit.

After Powers started his work in the top of the fourth, the Snappers offense sprung into action in the bottom of the frame. Ryan Huck drove in Tyler Marincov to tie the game, Sam Roberts followed with a two-out, two-run double and Jose Chavez drove in a fourth Beloit run with a single.

B.J. Boyd added a two-run home run in the seventh to give the Snappers a little more breathing room in the last two innings of the game. All six Beloit runs came in with two outs in the inning.

The series with the Cougars continues at 6:30 p.m. today.
