UW-Whitewater learns its potential baseball tournament opponents
The NCAA released early Monday morning the Division III baseball tournament regionals. UW-Whitewater will serve as a regional host site, where the top-seeded Warhawks will play in a double-elimination pool with Heidelberg, Concordia Chicago, UW-La Crosse, Adrian and St. Norbert. Regional play begins Wednesday.
UW-Stevens Point is the third WIAC representative in the tournament but has a long way to travel to its regional at Linfield in McMinnville, Oregon.
The Warhawks (31-6) battled back in the WIAC tournament over the weekend, winning three games Saturday to win the conference title and earn an automatic berth into the 56-team NCAA field. Whitewater is the top-ranked baseball team in the Midwest region.
The winners of the eight regional tournaments will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton starting May 23.
