Snappers' offense scuffles in loss

DAVENPORT, Iowa—The Beloit Snappers fell into an early hole Friday night and could not recover.

Quad Cities scored twice in the bottom of the first inning en route to a 5-1 Midwest League victory.

Beloit avoided a shutout on Sam Roberts’ ninth inning home run.

Melvin Mercedes had three of Beloit’s seven hits and is now batting .429 on the season.

Quad Cities looks for the three-game sweep when the series concludes tonight.
