Jim Bryan, Walworth (1961 - 2014)
August 8, 1961 - May 8, 2014
Jim Bryan, age 52, died peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, May 8, 2014. He died, surrounded by his family, at home where he wanted to be. He died following a long courageous battle with colon cancer. He battled his illness tenaciously and remained tough, both mentally and physically. Jim was born August 8, 1961 at Chicago, IL to parents Fred and June (Canny) Bryan. His life was shorter than expected, but he left his mark on all who loved him. He was a farmer, a mason, and a carpenter. Jim was a jack-of-all trades, who could fix anything. He loved animals and the outdoors, enjoying camping & hiking. He was a true steward of the environment.
Jim is survived by his father, Fred; and his siblings: Pam Haese of Stoughton, WI; Beth Bryan of Franklin, TN; and Patrick Bryan of Walworth, WI. He was predeceased by his mother (June); his sister (Ruth); and his brother-in-law (Gary).
Services for James Bryan will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 12, 2014 at TOYNTON FUNERAL HOME in Walworth, WI with Sid Boersma, officiating. A gathering will be 9:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. ShahidShekani and his team at Mercy Hospital in Janesville for their compassionate care during the last several years. Dr. Shekhani always ended Jim’s appointments with his hand on Jim’s shoulder and the words, “I am with you, my friend.” Thanks also to the Mercy hospice team. They provided Jim with comfort and kindness in his final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, or Mercy Hospice.
