JANESVILLE—Wilmot High’s softball team brought out the heavy lumber Friday afternoon.

The Panthers banged out 14 hits, including six extra-base hits, in a 10-2 nonconference win over Janesville Craig.

Craig (9-8) trailed 5-0 after three innings and could not recover.

“I would say that along with Verona, Wilmot was the best hitting team we’ve seen all season,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “Their No. 3 and No. 4 hitters were 6-for-6 with four RBIs, two doubles and a triple. We couldn’t get them out.

“But I give our girls credit. We could’ve gotten beat by the 10-run rule, but we scored two runs in the sixth to avoid it.”

Sydney Cramer had two hits, including a double for Craig.

The Cougars play a Big Eight Conference game at Madison East on Tuesday.

Parker finished with seven hits, including an RBI double from Kayla Byrne.

“That’s too many errors again, but today they were more about somebody trying to make a play instead of throwing it away,” Parker coach Allison Driscoll said.

“We didn’t get that first win, but we swung the bats pretty well and scored four runs. That’s an improvement from our last game.”

Parker hosts Madison La Follette in a Big Eight doubleheader Tuesday.
