TOWN OF SPRING VALLEY—The Scotch Hill Cemetery in the town of Spring Valley recently had its gate damaged, and car ruts were scoured into the grass.

This comes after vandalism last fall, when tombstones were tipped.

The town board will discuss hiring a contractor to right the tombstones when it meets Monday, said Town Clerk Judith Albright.

A Rock County sheriff's deputy was called to the cemetery at 6:22 p.m. Wednesday to check out the latest damage.

Albright said it's an ongoing problem, all the more worrisome because many graves are historic.

The damage appears to be from “kids,” because beer cans have been found when the cemetery was vandalized, she said.
