River Bandits rally in eighth to beat Snappers
Quad Cities stunned Beloit in the eighth inning of a Midwest League baseball game Thursday night.
The River Bandits struck for four runs to erase a three-run deficit, and they beat the Snappers 6-5.
Beloit scored three runs in the fourth and built up a 5-2 lead with six outs to go, but it fell apart from there.
Quad Cities’ first three batters in the eighth singled, walked and singled, respectively, to chase reliever Junior Mendez from the game. After a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly, Jobduan Morales doubled home the game-tying run. Morales then scored on Brett Phillips’ double to complete the comeback.
The two teams play again at 7 p.m. tonight.
