Parker smacks 12 hits to move to 9-0
MADISON--The fun continues for Janesville Parker’s baseball team.
Parker pounded 12 hits, including five for extra bases, in a 12-5 win Tuesday over Madison La Follette.
The Vikings improved to 10-1 overall, including 9-0 in the Big Eight Conference.
Parker jumped on La Follette with two runs in the first on Collin Powers’ two-run homer and added three more in the second. Powers went the first six-plus innings in picking up the win.
“Collin was fine through the first six innings but ran out of gas a little in the seventh,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “He ate up innings, and in a week in which we have three more games, that’s big.
“Offensively, we got contributions from everybody up and down the lineup. Brock Welch got three hits in the eighth spot, and Cullen Osmond scored three runs and drove in three runs at the top of the order.”
Parker led 7-2 in the sixth before pulling away with three runs. Osmond’s three-run inside-the-park home run made 10-2. The Vikings added two more runs in the seventh as seven batters finished with at least one RBI.
The Vikings will look for the regular-season sweep Thursday when they host Madison Memorial at Riverside Park.
