Your Thanks: Rock County Sheriff Spoden salutes nurses for service, dedication
May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. I would like to thank all the nurses of Rock County for the service they provide to the citizens of Rock County. Nurses provide an important part of the healing process as they work alongside physicians and physician assistants to help their patients toward recovery.
There are many instances where a law enforcement officer needs to bring a subject in for medical treatment. Nurses are often the first person they meet to help them. They greatly appreciate those nurses for their kindness and generous spirit.
My mother was a nurse for more than 40 years. I know first hand the stress your profession goes through while trying to complete your daily duties, as well as deal with unexpected situations. You are at the forefront of a medical emergency, taking down essential information of symptoms and making your own observations to assist the doctor in knowing what treatment to provide. Your knowledge is indispensable.
So I thank you for all you do and want you to know that a week is not nearly enough time to acknowledge all you do for us. So I hope you enjoy this week dedicated to you and realize how important you are to this community.
