Lakeland Players perform 'Best of Broadway'

ELKHORN—For the last show of its 40th season, the Lakeland Players will perform "Best Of Broadway," packed with popular songs from hit Broadway musicals, on May 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m., and on May 11 and 18 at 3 p.m. at the Walworth County Performing Arts Center, 15 W. Walworth St., Elkhorn. 

Among those on stage will be Wayne Messner, who sings the "National Anthem" for the Chicago Cubs and Stephen Brellenthin, a noted tap dancer from Elkhorn. Past performers will also appear, including Linda Kouzes, one of the co-founders of Lakeland Players; Joan and Steve Hay, longtime members; Sonia Simonsen, who starred in the original "Dolly" in 1977, along with Darcy Brick, Laura Brandt, and Amy Mossman Schmidt, Jessica Nehs, and John Kobernick.

The show is conceived, directed, and choreographed by David Whitney of Lake Geneva, with Pauline Urso assisting.  Don Freesen  is musical director with Kathy Middleton accompanist. Both are from Burlington. Beth Sukula, Elkhorn, is our producer.
