Madison West’s softball team took advantage of walks in the first game and erupted at the plate in the second Monday.

The Regents swept Janesville Parker in a Big Eight home doubleheader, winning 7-4 and 15-5.

In the first game, West needed just four hits to earn the win thanks to nine walks and a pair of errors.

The Regents scored six runs in the second inning to set the tone.

“We had an error (in the second), and throw a couple walks in there, and it didn’t do a whole lot for us,” Parker coach Alli Driscoll said.

West’s bats came alive in the nightcap.

The Regents had three players with three or more hits and belted five doubles in the 15-5 victory.

“They hit us well the second game, and eight errors didn’t help,” Driscoll said. “We gave them a lot of at-bats and a lot of chances.”

Parker will attempt to get its first conference win when it hosts Sun Prairie today at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.
