Dylan Covey leads Beloit Snappers to 1-0 road win
Dylan Covey pitched a gem for the Beloit Snappers on Monday night.
Covey threw eight innings of four-hit baseball, striking out one and walking one in a 1-0 Midwest League road victory over the Peoria Chiefs.
The Snappers got their run in the fifth inning, when shortstop Luis Baez led off with a single and moved to third via a passed ball and a wild pitch. Second baseman Sam Roberts then singled him home.
Beloit handed Alex Reyes, who gave up five hits and two walks in six innings, his first loss. Reyes struck out eight.
Andres Avila got his third save by pitching a clean ninth for Beloit.
The two teams play again in Peoria at 11 a.m. today.
