Beloit goes deep to beat Quad Cities
BELOIT—The Beloit Snappers used the long ball Saturday afternoon to win their 10th game of the season.
B.A. Vollmuth hit a two-run homer and Ryan Mathews added a solo shot to lift Beloit to a 5-3 win over Quad Cities in a Midwest League game at Pohlman Field.
Beloit took control with three runs in the fourth, capped off by Vollmuth’s fourth home run of the season.
Kyle Finnegan (2-1) pitched the first five innings to pick up the win. Andres Avila picked up his second save of the season despite allowing a run in the ninth.
The two teams wrap up the three-game series this afternoon.
