Parker girls, Craig boys win titles at Cougar Relays
JANESVILLE--Depth was the difference Friday night for Janesville Parker’s girls track and field team.
The Vikings won four field events and finished second or third in a number of other relays en route to winning the Cougar Relays title at Monterey Stadium. Parker finished with 114 points, while Beloit Memorial was second with 89.
Janesville Craig dominated in the sprint relays to win the boys team title with 119 points. Parker was second with 99.
Parker won the triple jump, shot put, discus and pole vault en route to the girls team title.
“Just a great, full team effort tonight,” Parker girls first-year coach Kristin Collins said. “It was pretty cool to see everything come together for us.”
Craig’s boys won both the 400 and 800 relays, as well as the sprint medley.
“This was really the first time all season we’ve had our full team together competing,” Craig coach Jeff Deininger said. “You can see the progression we’re making and how we’re a much different team than we’ve shown when we’re at almost full strength.”
