EVANSVILLE—Damage from a Thursday morning fire in Evansville was contained to an upstairs bedroom, but the family will temporarily be displaced, Evansville Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Cooper said.

Firefighters responded to smoke and flames at the two-story home at 213 W. Liberty St., at about 10:20 a.m. Everyone was out safely, he said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, he said. The fire was contained to the bedroom, but the rest of home suffered smoke and water damage. No damage estimated was available, Cooper said.

Firefighters from Edgerton, Footville and Brooklyn assisted.
