WHITEWATER—Thermodata, a developer and marketer of temperature-monitoring systems, is making UW-Whitewater's Innovation Center its headquarters, according to a university news release.

The international company moved in to the university's Technology Park, at 1221 Innovation Drive, a few weeks ago.

Founded in 2001 in Melbourne, Australia, Thermodata creates and markets systems for various industries around the world, including food service, scientific research, health care, and public health.

In March of 2011, the company opened an office in Boston.

The company has a five-year lease at the Innovation Center and will occupy two labs totaling 1,300 square feet on the main floor, according to the release.

Thermodata founder and co-owner Robert Keith said Wisconsin is a strategic location.

“We are now in the heart of the country—and we'll be able to get the supplies and equipment we need in the quantities we need,” he said in the release. “We share other tenants' desire to use the most up-to-date technology to serve our clients.”

A client used Thermodata technology to prevent damage to prairie chicken eggs in New Mexico, and a scientist used one of the company's systems to revive a species of tree in Scotland, the release states.
