Illinois man arrested in fatal hit-and-run
JANESVILLE—A 24-year-old Illinois man has been arrested in a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on U.S. 14 in Rock County in Janesville on Easter Sunday, April 20, according to Rock County authorities.
At a noon press conference on Friday, Rock County Sheriff Bob Spoden said a tip from an anonymous caller to the Rock County 911 Communications Center about 9 a.m. Thursday led to the arrest of Sambath Pal, 24, in Park City, Ill.
Pal remains jailed in Park City, awaiting extradition to Rock County.
The vehicle Pal is suspected of driving, a 2004 black Infiniti, was impounded and is currently at a Milwaukee crime lab.
Spoden thanked the local news media and users of social media for spreading word of the suspected vehicle.
The sheriff called the fatal accident “a troubling event that happened to the community,” and said his department felt the importance of providing some closure for the family.
