Beloit police investigate second fatal shooting Friday
BELOIT—Authorities were investigating a shooting Friday afternoon that killed a Beloit man on the city's southwest side.
According to a police department news release, Raymond L. Holloway, 20, Beloit, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound at Beloit Memorial Hospital shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Police were on patrol on the city's southwest side when witnesses called in reports that they saw a person fire a gun near Eighth Street and Highland Avenue. The person then got into a vehicle and fled, according to the release.
Police found Holloway at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are viewing the shooting as a homicide.
The incident was one of two fatal shootings reported Friday in Beloit. Police reported finding Edward D. Haley, 36, Beloit, dead of gunshot wounds early Friday on Newark Road near Townview Elementary School on the city's north side.
Both shootings Friday are under investigation and are being viewed as homicides, police said. Police said they were continuing to investigate whether there was a link between the two shootings.
