Statewide tornado drill begins at 1 p.m. Thursday

JANESVILLE—Despite dreary weather, officials are going forward with a statewide tornado drill beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday.

National Weather Service, Wisconsin Emergency Management and Wisconsin Broadcasters Association officials made the decision this morning after determining that no severe weather was expected in Wisconsin today, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.

The drill begins at 1 p.m. with a mock tornado watch announcement, according to the release. At 1:45 p.m., a mock tornado watch will be broadcast on most local and state radio, TV and cable stations. The drill is scheduled to end at 2 p.m.
