Kane County mounts eighth-inning comeback over Beloit
A rocky eighth inning Thursday kept the Beloit Snappers from salvaging a Midwest League series split at Kane County.
The Cougars batted around in the bottom of the eighth, scoring seven runs to come from behind and beat the Snappers 10-8.
Kane County won the final three games of the four-day series.
Beloit piled up six runs over the first three innings and led 7-0 after four.
The Snappers were in cruise control until Kane County plated three runs in the sixth, and they still felt comfortable with an 8-3 lead in the eighth.
There, Kane County’s Jacob Rogers led off with a single and scored on Trey Martin’s two-run double. Shawon Dunston singled home a run to make it 8-6, and Danny Lockhart’s two-run double tied it. Rogers made his second trip to the plate in the inning and hit a sacrifice fly that gave Kane County the lead.
Stuart Pudenz couldn’t get an out in the eighth and gave up four earned runs to suffer the loss. Tyler Bremmer struck out six and walked one in three innings of relief for the Cougars to move to 2-0.
Beloit opens a three-game series at Burlington today.
