JANESVILLE—A new ministry at Janesville’s Faith Community Church that’s working to bring Christian concerts and events to the area has planned its first concert.

The new ministry, known as By Faith Events, started late last year and has two events scheduled, organizer Eric Isibue said. The events will offer entertainment but also raise awareness and present volunteer opportunities at local social service agencies.

Faith Community along with 102.5 The Life will present a night of Christian fellowship Wednesday, April 30, at the Pontiac Convention Center, featuring Dove award-winning artist Aaron Shust along with Mikeschair, Jonny Diaz and Lauren Daigle.

While Daigle is an emerging artist, the rest of the popular Christian artists can be heard regularly on Christian radio, Isibue said. Shust was named songwriter of the year at the GMA Dove Awards in 2007, and his song “My Savior My God” also won song of the year.

The band Mikeschair’s hits include “Can’t Take Away” and “Let The Waters Rise.” Jonny Diaz released his new album, “Let It Fly,” this year, and his 2009 hit “More Beautiful You” has charted on Christian music charts.

The event starts with music, but it also will feature more than 20 social service agencies and programs that people can learn about before the concert.

“We always know outreach is the main reason we’re here, and it just kept going,” Isibue said.

The event will not only help bring awareness to the agencies, but “we want people to know that they’ve been out there serving for all these years,” he said.

People also might see a group they’re interested in and decide to start volunteering, he said.

By Faith Events also plans to bring artist Jason Gray to the church July 5.
