A late two-out rally led the Beloit Snappers to a series-opening victory at Kane County on Monday afternoon.

The Snappers scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to score a 5-3 Midwest League victory.

First baseman Ryan Huck reached on an error to open the inning and was replaced by pinch runner Jaycob Brugman. Brugman moved up on a sacrifice bunt, but he was stuck on second after a fly out.

Kane County walked center fielder Boog Powell, and left fielder B.J. Boyd made the Cougars pay with a two-run triple to right field.

The runs were unearned for reliever Josh Davis, but that didn’t help him escape the loss.

Sam Bragg threw three innings of two-hit relief to earn his second victory with the Snappers.

The two teams play the second game of their four-game series today.
