Sixth-run fourth dooms Parker softball
Janesville Parker scored three runs in the first inning, but the Vikings defense gave them back in a 13-6 loss to visiting Madison Memorial in Big Eight Conference softball game Thursday.
Sidney Litke reached on a bunt, and Haley Avery and Ashlie Homan drove in runs in the bottom of the first that gave the Vikings an early 3-2 advantage.
The Spartans took charge with a six-run fourth, aided by Parker errors. The Vikings finished with five errors.
“We had one rough inning,” Parker coach Alli Driscoll said. “We’ve got to work on some things defensively.”
The Vikings are 0-2 in Big Eight play and 0-5 overall.
