Madison East modified to the cold a bit better than Janesville Craig on Tuesday evening.

The Purgolders softball team piled up 17 hits on its way to a 16-5 Big Eight Conference victory over the Cougars at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex.

“I’ve got to give East credit—seventeen hits, two homers, and then we supply seven walks and three errors,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “But I was a little disappointed in our competitiveness. I think they adapted to the conditions better than we did.”

The Cougars fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in conference.

Freshman catcher Candace Kipp was 4-for-4 for East, while Julia Mielke and Jessie Bowden each hit home runs.

Junior captain Sydney Cramer went 3-for-4 with a double for Craig.

The Cougars play at Madison Memorial today.
