Janette Dorothy (Papenheim) Gisler, 90, of Edgerton, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Edgerton Hospital and Health Services, with her loving family by her side. She was born on Dec. 19, 1923, in Rice Lake, WI, daughter of the late George and Grace (Haughain) Papenheim. She was united in marriage on Nov. 14, 1944, to Carl A. Gisler, in Brill, WI. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2004. Janette and Carl spent many years in the Rice Lake area, before moving south to Elkhorn, WI. Janette resided in many locations thru the years, before settling in the Edgerton area, for the last 47 years. She resided at the Edgerton Health Care for the last 5 years, before her passing.

Together Janette and Carl raised eight children. Janette was a stay at home mom most of her life before taking employment in Stoughton, at the Ortega Factory, where she worked till her retirement. Janette was known for her wonderful cooking, especially her homemade bread and dinner rolls, that she made for every one of her kids' weddings. She cared for us with her recipes and kept us warm with her homemade quilts.

Janette is survived by her children: Douglas (Sue) Gisler of Milton, Judy (Carl) Hitchcock of Stoughton, Joyce (Ellery) Hitchcock of Edgerton, Jeannie Holliday of Stoughton, Diane (Rollie) Carothers of Fort Atkinson, Pat (John) Teubert of Edgerton, and John Gisler of Adams,WI; 14 grandchildren: Tammy (Mike) Plumley, Junior (Carl) Hitchcock, Elroy Hitchcock, Jennifer (Paul) Peterson, Kelli Kalagian, Sarah Netrefa, Jim (Sara) Carothers, Brad Carothers, Angela (Mike) Sturedvant, Chrissy (Pete) Lopeno, Elizabeth Teubert, Amy Gisler, Bill (Holly) Gisler and Aubree Doucha; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorritta Williams of Wausau, and Margret Komes of MN. She was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy; one granddaughter, Lisa Hitchcock; two sisters, Marie and Martha; and one brother, Robert.

A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on May 3, 2014, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, US HWY 51 S , Edgerton, with the Rev. Tim Erickson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, May 3, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
