Beloit Snappers swept by West Michigan
COMSTOCK PARK, Mich.—The West Michigan Whitecaps finished a sweep of the Beloit Snappers with a 2-1 win Sunday afternoon. During its current four-game skid, opponents have outscored Beloit 20-4, including an 8-1 win for West Michigan on Saturday. The Whitecaps had 15 hits in the game and broke it open with four runs in the sixth inning.
The Snappers trailed much of Sunday afternoon after the Whitecaps opened the scoring in the first with a two-out RBI for Dominic Ficociello. Raph Rhymes added a sacrifice fly in the fifth to make it 2-0.
Beloit walked six times in the game, but had trouble finding base hits to drive in the runners. There were just five Snapper hits, all coming from batters Nos. 2 through 5 in the lineup. Beloit left 10 runners on base and struck out 11 times.
The two-city road trip ended Sunday. The Snappers return to action tonight at Pohlman Field against the Great Lakes Loons at 6:30 p.m.
