December 10, 1934 - April 11, 2014
Buneva Marie "Bunnie" Deuel, age 79, of Janesville, WI, died April 11, 2014, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Grants Pass, OR, on Dec. 10, 1934, daughter of the late Dale F. and Buneva M. (Culbertson) Ginn. She married Lamar E. Deuel, Sr. on July 23, 1955, in Chicago, IL. Bunnie was very active in philanthropic organizations including serving as Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Bethel Guardian for the International Order of Jobs Daughters, member of the Daughters of the Nile, Past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Janesville VFW Post #1621, Past President of the LAMOPH #437, and at the time of her death, was serving as the Wisconsin State President of the LAMOPH. At one point in her career, her position at Singer-Kearfott was instrumental in advancing the space program; however, after a few short years she chose to be a stay-at-home mom. After the children were grown she pursued a new career as a paralegal and office manager for one of California's leading law firms, a career from which she eventually retired.
Bunnie's husband likes to tell of the time when they were dating, he attended her piano recital at Starlight Bowl in San Diego, and he bought her the very piano she played that night. Bunnie enjoyed playing the piano, which in turn inspired each of her children to learn at least one musical instrument and the entire family developed an appreciation of music. She was spontaneous and fun loving, was loved by all those she encountered and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Bunnie leaves behind a legacy of kindness and will be truly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Bunnie is survived by her husband; and four children: Buneva Jacquay of San Diego, John Deuel of San Diego, Eric Deuel of Janesville, and Gail (James) Hallemeyer of Vista, CA; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Cody R. Legg.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the JANESVILLE VFW KIENOW-HILT POST #1621, 1015 Center Ave., Janesville, WI, with a luncheon to follow.
