Repeat drunken driving offenses suspected
JANESVILLE—Two Janesville men were arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated repeat offenses within five minutes of each other early Saturday morning, according to a Janesville Police Department news release.
-- Bun Yan Nhoung Pel, 58, of 440 N. Pearl St., Janesville, was arrested on a charge of fifth-offense drunken driving at 12:08 a.m. Saturday after police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Pearl St. Upon arrival they found the vehicle he was driving had hit a parked car. After Bun Yan Nhoung Pel failed field sobriety tests a search warrant was drafted and a legal blood draw was conducted at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center. The results of the test are unknown. He is in custody at the Rock County Jail.
-- Christopher G. Sartell, 51, of 1716 Sousa Court, Janesville, was arrested on a charge of seventh offense drunken driving at 12:13 a.m. Saturday after an officer stopped his vehicle with a defective tail lamp, on Black Bridge Road at Sousa Court, and noticed Sartell was showing signs of impairment and slurred speech. A legal blood draw was conducted at Mercy. Results are not known at this time. Sartell has six prior OWI convictions, but had a valid driver's license. He was admitted to Mercy on a police hold.
