Louis M. Alf, age 87, of Beloit, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born April 15, 1926, to the late Richard and Alma (Zick) Alf in Clinton. Lou enlisted into the U.S. Navy on Feb. 3, 1945, and served his Country, earning the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the American Area Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon of World War II until his honorable discharge on Aug. 2, 1946. He married Margaret Mair on June 2, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Janesville. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1997. Lou was member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. He built his own house and was always building things in his garage for friends and family. Lou also enjoyed fishing with his grandson, tending to his flower garden and watching sports on TV.

Lou is survived by his son-in-law, Glenn Kindschi; his grandson, Mark Kindschi of Westfield, WI; and his granddaughter, Kathleen “Katie” Kindschi of Columbus, WI; his two brothers, Philip (Rosie) Alf and Alfred Alf; and many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Lou was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; his daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Kindschi; his son, Bruce; four brothers; and a sister.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital and all Lou's neighbors and house keepers for the care they gave Lou.

Lou’s Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the BRIAN G. MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI, with Deacon Jim Davis officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the FUNERAL HOME from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment and Full Military Burial Rites will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
