JANESVILLE--Police suspect a pellet gun was used to shoot the windows out of a vehicle outside Precision Drawn Metals, 1345 Plainfield Ave. at about 2 p.m. Friday.

Officers were dispatched at 1:59 p.m. for a report of shots fired. Witnesses told police a while male wearing a red or orange baseball cap backward rolled down the window of a small, black, two-door car--possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix--and fired three or four times into the parking lot, according to a release from Janesville police.

"The damage is consistent with a pellet gun, however, a small-caliber firearm is not being ruled out," the release reads.

An employee in the parking lot witnessed the event, according to the release.

It is unknown if the incident is related to recent vandalism to vehicles being shot out overnight in the Janesville Mall parking lot last week, according to the release.

No injuries were reported. No arrests were made, Sgt. Anne Brophy said.

Officers continued to investigate Friday afternoon.
