Your Thanks: Rock County Dryhootch appreciates support for veterans
On behalf of the Rock County Dryhootch, we would like to thank the Rock County community for donating 10 boxes worth of clothes for the Veterans Transitional Housing at the RVCP back in December.
They were extremely grateful for the donations. Also, we would like to recognize and appreciate the American Red Cross, ECHO, Homeless Intervention Task Force, Diversity Action Team, Office of Veteran Services, Janesville Rental Assistance Program, Bede Reflexology, the Vet Center, Circle of Change, Institute for Community Alliances, Rock County Veterans Court, the VA Women Veterans Program, the VA Outreach Program, UW-Whitewater veterans liaison, and UW-Whitewater Student Veteran Service Office for coming together to discuss veterans issues in Rock County at our first Veterans Organizational Support Conference on March 22. Some of the challenges veterans face include: gaining employment, access to affordable housing, waiting on compensation from the Veterans Administration, and lack of transportation throughout southern Wisconsin.
The Rock County Dryhootch's goal is to bring together resources in the community and create partnerships with local agencies in order to help those veterans who survived the war to survive the peace at home. For veterans faced with any challenges, please come to the Rock County Dryhootch from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at 211 North Parker Drive in Janesville to learn about available resources in the area.
Also, a community resource fair will take place June 5 at the Job Center in Janesville.
