South Bend halts Beloit's winning streak
South Bend halted the Beloit Snappers’ winning streak on Thursday night.
The Silver Hawks scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to an 8-1 Midwest League victory.
The visiting Snappers had won four games in a row.
Beloit took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that was quickly squashed. South Bend scored seven of its eight runs in the first four innings.
Brad Allen gave up one run in 5 1/3 innings, striking out nine batters on his way to his first win of the season for the Silver Hawks. Beloit struck out 13 times total.
Beloit opens a three-game series at West Michigan tonight.
