Russell L. Porter, 87, of Beloit, WI, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville, WI. He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Beloit, WI, the son of Chester Roy and Anna (Harmel) Porter. He was a 1944 graduate of Beloit High School. Russell was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Reva Adleman on May 30, 1948, in the Westside Presbyterian Church. She predeceased him on March 1, 2013. Russell was the owner and operator of Allied Van Lines. He also sold investments as a second career. Russell was a businessman who was known for his honesty, integrity and trust. He enjoyed listening to Big band music, driving trucks and motor homes and traveling. Robert also enjoyed going on a Bi-Plane ride and traveling to Washington, with the Vets Roll. Russell was a member of Sun Valley Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, finance chairman and Sunday school teacher. Russell was a very devoted and outstanding husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed by all.

Survivors include his three children: Douglas (Edith) Porter of Rockton, IL, Debra (Harry) Oster of Beloit, WI, and Dennis (fiancé, Penelope) Porter of Delafield, WI; eight grandchildren: Brian, Scott, and Aaron (Laura) Porter, Jeremy (fiancé, Kara) Oster, Kristilyn (Brad) Falkenthal, Audra (fiancé, Josh) Porter, Haley (Daniel) Cullen, and Jordan Porter; seven great-grandchildren: Easton and Alissa Falkenthal, Georgetta and Parker Cullen, Jacob, Madison, and JulieAnn Oster; special family friends, Minh (Le) Tran, Kim and Samantha Tran; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, four half sisters and four half brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at SUN VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1650 Sun Valley, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Dave Ewing officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the DALEY MURPHY WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.
