Parker High School senior Jordan C. Peyer wins national scholarship
JANESVILLE—Parker High School senior Jordan C. Peyer is one of seven Wisconsin high school students to win the Achievement Scholarship through the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
The National Scholarship Corporation identified Wednesday about 800 African-American high school seniors nationwide who won one of the scholarships, according to a written release.
Peyer, who plans to pursue a degree in political science, was awarded the National Achievement Boule Foundation Scholarship, according to the written release.
Scholarships given total more $2 million and were financed by 31 corporate organizations, professional associations and through the National Achievement Scholarship Program, according to the release.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program is a privately financed academic competition established in 1964 to honor scholastically talented black American youth and to provide scholarships to the most outstanding participants in each annual competition, according to the release.
