Dallas R. Grenawalt, Orfordville, WI (1940-2014)

Dallas R. Grenawalt, age 74, of rural Beloit, WI, died on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Mercy Hospital, Janesville. Dallas was born March 3, 1940, the son of Robert D. and Vivian M. (Benjamin) Grenawalt in Beloit, WI, and graduated with the Class of 1957, from Orfordville High School. After graduation he joined his father on the family farm, raising Registered Hampshire pigs. Dallas was active in 4-H, showing at the County and State Fairs, and later at the Illinois and Minnesota State Fairs. Dallas was on the Board of Directors of Green Rock FS for many years, named Wisconsin Pork All American in 1975, was on the National Hampshire Board of Directors from 1985–1990, and was named Wisconsin Master Agriculturist in 2005. The Grenawalt Family hosted the second Porkfest in June 1974, at their farm and were again the hosts on June 12, 2002, when it was held at the Fair Grounds. The Grenawalt Farm held annual purebred breeding stock sales, selling pigs to many states and foreign countries. Dallas was a lifetime member of Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Beloit, served as Vice President of the congregation, was a church trustee, President of the Cemetery Board, and an usher for many years. On June 20, 1964, Dallas was married to Mary J. Warn, who preceded him in death on June 11, 1992. They were the parents of Lisa K. and Michael R. Grenawalt. Dallas married Linda F. (Earleywine) Brown on Oct. 1, 1994.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Linda F.; his mother, Vivian; his children: Lisa (Tim) McDonald of Janesville, and Michael (Beth) Grenawalt of Beloit, and stepdaughter, Cherie L. Brown of Clinton, NJ. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Rachel and Olivia McDonald and Benjamin and Jacob Grenawalt; brothers, Richard (Nancy) and Thomas (Linda L.) Grenawalt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his wife, Mary.
Funeral services will be held at LUTHER VALLEY CHURCH on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Mae Jean Zelle officiating. Burial will be in Luther Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN CHAPEL ON THE HILL, Hwy 11 and South Coon Island Road, Orfordville, from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday.
