Beloit Memorial’s girls soccer team simply had too much speed for Janesville Parker on Monday night.

Olivia Valk scored twice and had one assist as the Purple Knights downed the Vikings in a Big Eight Conference opener at Parker.

“They look to be a really good team this year,” Parker coach Steve Strieker said. “I’ll be surprised if we face a team faster than that all year.”

Valk struck first in the 13th minute and fed Stephanie Delatorre for another goal 13 minutes later.

Parker’s Megan Fillion put the Vikings back within one in the 29th minute, and it was 2-1 at halftime.

“It’s the second game in a row (Megan has) scored,” Strieker said. “She has a real nose for the goal and worked her way open.

“Morgan Burner was playing all over the field. She’s one of our fastest players and held the tide for us for a while. She usually plays forward and we were able to move her back and stop the barrage in the first half.”

The Knights pulled away with three goals in a 14-minute span out of the break.

Parker plays at Watertown in nonconference action tonight.
