First HR of season powers Snappers
Tyler Marincov hit the first home run of the season for the Beloit Snappers to help them beat the Burlington Bees 6-4 on Sunday.
Burlington's Mark Shannon led the game off with a single, and Kody Eaves doubled right behind him to open the scoring against Dylan Covey. The Snappers (2-2) answered back with two runs in the second on singles by Ryan Mathews and Phil Pohl.
The Bees (2-2) reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth before Marincov came to the plate with two outs and a runner on base in the bottom half of the inning and hit his home run.
Beloit tacked on single insurance runs in the seventh and eighth, and Chris Lamb pitched a perfect top of the ninth to earn the save.
The Snappers next play Tuesday in South Bend, Ind.
