Think you're TV material? Al Roker wants you
He's recognized as a longtime weatherman on NBC's “Today,” but there's another role in Al Roker's life: CEO of Al Roker Entertainment.
“Yes, that Al Roker,” said Alec Bernal of Al Roker Entertainment in an email. “While millions of Americans see Al every morning on “Today,” less people are aware that, for years now, he's run a successful independent production company, with a range of shows airing on major US networks.”
The TV production company produces, according to their website, www.roker.com, “ highly compelling, entertaining unscripted programming.”
Included among the extensive list of shows are “Bordertown: Laredo,” “Last Chance Highway,” and “Coast Guard Alaska” –now in its third season on the Weather Channel.
Now, they're casting their net in Wisconsin, looking for people “to potentially star in their own show,” Bernal said.
According to the release Bernal sent, the company is looking for people in the following categories:
• Independent/family-owned-and-operated businesses: “(We want people) who have larger than life personalities and talent to boot,” the release stated. “Think you're the next Cake Boss or Duck Dynasty? Let's find out!”
• Siblings: “We want to hear from truly unique siblings. What they do and who they are is totally open—brothers in business together…sisters who share an obsession…You could be rural or urban. You might remind people of the Kardashians—or the total opposite. But if you and your siblings have big personalities and are unique, we want to hear from you!”
• Best in field: “Are you the best at what you do? Are you a rock star of home renovation, or the wiz of a niche biz? Whether you're selling bridal gowns or tracking down wildlife, we want to hear what makes you great…and why you'd make great TV.”
Producers are also open to hearing from individuals who don't fit the categories, but still feel they'd make a good show.
To apply, email firstname.lastname@example.org with a bit of information about yourself, include a few photos and any relevant links, plus a good time and phone number to reach you.
A casting producer will be in touch, the release promises.
