Frederick "Punk" R. Warner, Jr., Janesville, WI/formerly Beloit, WI, (1927-2014)
March 14, 1927 - March 28, 2014
Frederick "Punk" R. Warner, Jr., 87, of Janesville, WI, formerly of Beloit, WI, died on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Our House Memory Care in Janesville. Frederick Raynsford Warner, Jr. was born on March 14, 1927, in Oak Park, IL, the son of Josephine (Reed) Warner and Frederick Warner. He attended Beloit Public Schools and graduated from Beloit Memorial High in 1945. Fred served in the United States Navy in World War II for one year then enrolled at Beloit College where he pledged Phi Kappa Psi fraternity – he was the Class of ’50. Fred married Lou Jane Moen at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Beloit, on Sept. 22, 1951. They were married for more than 62 years and raised three “wonderful, beautiful and caring” daughters. His earlier employment included “Day Manager” of the Pop House, Freeman Shoe Company, CZ Chemical Company, and then DeVere Chemical Company. Fred held the positions of salesman, sales manager, Vice-President, and served as President for over 30 years, retiring at age 75. One of his joys was to call on customers by flying throughout the Midwest piloting the company’s single engine Mooney.
Fred and Lou traveled the world. They rode camels in Egypt, went on safari in Africa, and visited sheep ranches in Australia. Their favorite destination was Scotland. He loved the outdoors, liked to camp, fish and hike. Fred had a true appreciation of our natural surroundings. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rotary Club of Janesville, and served on the Board of Kandu Industries. Fred was a supporter of Beloit College and a real Green Bay Packer fan. He and Lou loved to sing and dance together, especially to the Big Band era songs. Fred’s slow demise with memory loss was sad and difficult for the family. He was well taken care of at home until this past year when it was necessary to move him to a memory care facility in Janesville. Fred will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Fred is survived by his wife, Lou; daughters, Judy of Belleair, FL, Carol of Beloit, and Janet of Singer Island, FL, Patty (James) Brasel and their children, Ben (Heather) Brasel and Meryl (Derek) Brasel-May; and four great-grandchildren, all in Kansas; cousin, Nancy (Lee) Reed Friday of Chico, CA; along with two nieces and a nephew and their families in Florida.
Private family services will be held followed by committal at Oakwood Cemetery in Beloit. HANSEN-GRAVITT FUNERAL HOME in Beloit, is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
