Police investigation results in three heroin-related arrests near Motel 6

JANESVILLE—Three people have been arrested after Janesville police began investigating a heroin dealer linked to a non-fatal overdose of an 18-year-old female, according to a police department release.

On Monday, police arrested: Joseph C. VanGampler, 19, of 418 Caroline St., Janesville; Kayleigh C. Gaulin-Klarich, 23, 4348 E. Milwaukee St., Janesville; and Cameron M. Hume, 23, of 1039 Jerome Ave., Janesville.

The police department's Street Crimes Unit investigated reports of controlled substances being sold in and around Janesville by VanGampler, according to the release.

The investigation lead to a room at Motel 6, 3907 Milton Ave., Janesville. Officers later found VanGampler at a nearby gas station.

According to the release, officers searched the motel room and found six grams of heroin split between 22 individual bags worth a total of about $500, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, amphetamine pills, ammunition, a holster, and magazines for a gun. Also found were items reported stolen from a recent burglary.

The investigation is ongoing, the release states, and could result in more charges.

VanGampler is charged with:

--2nd degree reckless endangering safety

--manufacture/delivery of heroin

--possession with intent to deliver heroin

--party to possession with intent to deliver heroin

--possession of schedule II narcotic

--possession of drug paraphernalia

--maintain drug trafficking place

--receiving stolen property

--possession of marijuana

--probation violation

Gaulin-Klarich is charged with:

--possession with intent to deliver heroin

--maintain drug trafficking place

--possession of drug paraphernalia

Hume is charged with:

--receiving stolen property
