Two Janesville high school students expelled for drugs, alcohol
JANESVILLE —Two Janesville high school students have been expelled, one for being under the influence of alcohol at school and the other for being under the influence of marijuana and possessing a prescription drug with the intent to deliver on school grounds.
The Janesville School Board voted this week to confirm the expulsions.
Both students may apply for early reinstatement. One student may apply at the beginning of the 2016 school year. The other will be allowed to apply in December 2016.
Both must meet conditions including obtaining mental health and substance abuse evaluation, providing confirmation that they have received insight into their behavior, submitting to searches, complying with juvenile justice plans, maintaining satisfactory class participation and assignment grades and regularly attending class with absences and tardies monitored.
The two expulsions bring to 14 the total for the 2013-14 school year, compared with five expulsions at this time last year.
