Robert L. Jensen, Clinton, WI (1938-2014)
September 23, 1938 - March 21, 2014
Robert L. Jensen, 75, of Clinton, died on Friday, March 21, 2014, at home. He was born to the late George and Arlene (Haines) Jensen on Sept. 23, 1938, in Kenosha, WI. Bob graduated from Kenosha High School in 1956, and went on to receive a teaching degree from the Wisconsin Teacher’s College and later a Masters from UW-Whitewater. He married Mary A. Paynter on June 8, 1968, at the First Presbyterian Church and lived in Clinton, WI. Bob began his teaching career at Pleasant Prairie Schools, teaching Art and English. In 1966, he moved to Clinton, to become the Junior High School Principal. In 1979, Bob was promoted to be the Superintendent of Clinton Schools, a position he held until he retired in 1998. Throughout his career and into retirement, art always remained his passion. Whether painting signs for the community or creating original children’s books for family and friends, Bob quietly found a way to show how much he cared about other people. Bob was very active in his church, serving as a Deacon and on the Session for several years. He also spent many hours volunteering, from visiting the elderly at nursing homes to sending handmade cards to sick children in the hospital.
Bob shared a love of travel with his wife Mary and cherished the time they spent with their children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will forever remember his thoughtfulness and generosity.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary (Paynter) Jensen; three children: Jeff (Ellen) Jensen of Clinton, WI, Jay (Christina) Jensen of Janesville, WI, and Jan (Mark) Jensen Davis of New York, NY; two brothers, George Jensen of Baileys Harbor, WI, and David (Mary) Jensen of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandsons: Ean, Connor, Riley, Trent, Evan and Reid. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Roger Jensen.
Bob touched a lot of people through his artwork and thoughtful acts of kindness. Please take a moment to upload a photo of his art or share a memory or condolence with the Jensen family here: http://www.forevermissed.com/robert-l-jensen/
